'The best fruit salad in the world'

The unit was carried out over a week with all the lessons relevant to the topic; we read books, sorted and counted fruit, etc. the work laid out in the D&T plans, worked towards the end of the week when there was a competition of which groups could make the 'best fruit salad in the world'! The lessons progressed well, giving the children all the skills to produce the final piece.

We worked as a class with an adult with each group for most of the activities.

The competition at the end of the week was judged by the head teacher, and a certificate was given to each member of the group that made the winning fruit salad.

The whole class thorough enjoyed the week and for some time after would come in to school and tell of the fruit salads they had made at home!
