Interesting work by pupils in years 2, 4 and 5

David Barlex and Sue Miles Pearson gave a presentation at the Design and Technology Association Education and International Research Conference describing innovative work by a secondary school working with partner primary schools. The introduction of CADCAM was facilitated by creating groups of pupil experts who then acted as mentors to their peers.

The results showed that all the pupils were able use of the simple software and hardware made available by the secondary school but at the moment the range of design decisions seems limited. But this represents an important first step in engaging young children with modern technology.
