What display will your class share?

Enabling pupil choice
You can extend this unit by asking the class which subjects in their curriculum they would like to put on display. It is likely that there will be a variety of responses so you are faced with the exciting possibility of your class producing several displays each about different themes.
If this is to be successful you will need to ensure that each group has access to the resources they need for their chosen theme. Some of the resources that they have already used in the different subjects will be helpful and some of the children will be able to recall and list resources that they found useful.

The classroom assistant can help assemble a box of relevant resources for each subject that the children have chosen. You can encourage the children to bring in resources from home to add to their box. And you can produce a list of websites that might be useful. This situation is more complex than one in which all children are working on displays to a common theme but it is expected that the choice will provide the motivation needed to enable the children to be successful in this more demanding environment.
