How scary should a calendar be?

Understanding the software

Most software is menu driven now. To get something to happen you use the mouse to point the arrow cursor on the screen and click so that the menu 'drops down'. To action an item on the menu you simply use the arrow to highlight that item and release the mouse clicker. Sometimes to action an item in a drop down window you have to 'click' on an 'OK' button.

The My World software uses a similar system to help young children produce complex images. The child uses the mouse to point the arrow cursor at items in a library of shapes. By 'clicking' onto the item the child can then drag it onto the place on the screen where he or she is composing the monster. There are lots of different shapes in the Picture bank to choose from and a menu of tools that enable the child to rotate, flip and scale the shapes. If a shape doesn't look right it can easily be removed by placing it in the bin, so children do not have to worry about making mistakes.
