Simple structures for board game pieces
The simplest board game piece can be made from plastic counters. These can be decorated with illustrated adhesive labels as shown in Diagram 1.

Children can produce stand up card labels in a number of ways:
Diagram 2
- a simple vertical fold to give a V which will stand up as in Diagram 2;
Diagram 3
- simple horizontal fold that will let the card stand up as in Diagram 3;
Diagram 4
- a more robust card figure can be obtained by using wooden strip for a base. Children can stick a short piece of strip to the simple horizontal fold as on Diagram 4;
* or stick a short piece of strip either side of a card piece as shown in Diagram 5;
* another way is to cut a slot into a short strip with a junior hack saw and slide the card into the slot as shown in Diagram 6.
