Gill Hope reveals insights into the importance of playfulness in young children's design & technology at the PATT conference in Salt Lake City
Gill Hope of Canterbury University presented an interesting paper about the nature of young children's play and how important it is in developing children's creativity in design & technology. The examples Gill gave revealed how it is important for those children who are not particularly successful in the core subjects and somewhat unconventional in their approach to designing. The chair of the session commented, quite rightly, on the insightfulness of Gill's interpretations of the classroom behaviour she had observed. You will be able to read her paper (Impact of Play Opportunities on Responses to Design Situations) when it appears on the PAT/ITEA website)

Gill hope talks with Moshe Barak and David Barlex about the common concerns of primary and secondary teachers.
