The Nuffield Foundation

Shape the future STEM Directory

Futures CoverThe Royal Academy of Engineering has produced an interesting booklet listing a range of activities that support engineering activities for school and college students.

We are delighted that the Nuffield Design & Technology projects are listed – primary on page 8 and secondary on page 18.

The booklet points up the role of SETNET in supporting STEM activity referring readers to www.setnet.org.uk.

It also notes that science and engineering week will take place in March with details available at www.the-ba.net/the-ba/events/NSEW.

The booklet provides a visual overview of the initiatives available on pages 2 and 3 and promotes the use of science and engineering ambassadors whose activities are co-ordinated nationally by SETNET.

The publication of the directory is part of the Royal Academy of Engineering's 10 year strategic campaign to support engineering (visit www.raeng.org.uk/about/stf/default.htm to find out more). This campaign also includes the Shape the Future website (www.shapethefuture.org.uk/home). If you visit this site click on challenges and you will find details of a Nuffield primary solutions unit that you can use to engage pupils in years 6 and 7 with a debate about the role of the motor car in our society.
