Giving a talk to a large group

  • If you are asked to give a talk to large group keep your language simple and friendly and use large models, slides or large pictures to illustrate your talk.
  • Avoid having the whole group shouting out answers to questions - ask them to put up a hand if they have an answer and pick one or two individuals to call out their answers. If they are very quiet repeat them clearly so the whole group can hear. Don't forget to say "hands down" when you have finished taking answers.
  • Refer any problems to the teacher present who is responsible for the group.
