How do you take your tea?

Tea in other cultures
You can stimulate the children's interest in this unit by encouraging your class to explore the way tea is made in different societies.
It may be that you have children from different cultures in your class who have direct experience of making tea in different ways. If this is the case, then inviting their parents into the class to demonstrate the way tea is made in their homes would be an effective way of proving motivation and widening the scope of the unit. It also provides an opportunity to celebrate cultural diversity.
To maximise the impact of such an event you, or members of the class, could make a photo record of the proceeds using a digital camera and produce a standing display to celebrate the event. It is likely that the local press would feature the occasion especially as you would be able to supply photographs.
If you do not have children from different cultures in your class then you can use the websites listed in *More * and Try this to find out about tea making in different countries.
